• Ontwierp en implementeerde geautomatiseerde pijplijnen voor gegevensafstemming om meer dan 100.000 individuele records te synchroniseren tussen de database van UNHCR en systemen van partners, waardoor referentiële integriteit werd gewaarborgd en de interoperabiliteit tussen 11 EHAGL-landenoperaties werd verbeterd.
• Ontwikkelde een biometrisch gekoppelde workflow voor het beheer van hervestigingszaken met behulp van SQL Server en Power BI. Maakte aangepaste ETL-scripts, Power Query-transformaties en op DAX gebaseerde KPI's om interactieve dashboards te ondersteunen.

• Ontwierp GIS-gebaseerde tools voor het in kaart brengen van locaties en demografische analyse en beheerde de lokale proGres v4 database, waardoorterugkerende gegevensfouten met meer dan 70% werden verminderd door middel van validatieroutines en dashboards voor het opsporen van afwijkingen.
• Meertalige publieke informatieplatforms gebouwd, waaronder een QR-codesysteem dat maandelijks door meer dan 1.500 PoC's wordt gebruikt en een tracker voor ziekenhuisdiensten die op meerdere locaties wordt gebruikt, ter ondersteuning van de coördinatie en dienstverlening.
• Trainingen gegeven aan meer dan 60 medewerkers en partners over CRM-systemen, automatisering en Power BI, en een meertalige gids voor stedelijke diensten geschreven die is aangenomen door werkgroepen en gedeeld met meer dan 5000 begunstigden.

During the 2016 refugee crisis in the Northern Aegean, Stelios worked on the front lines of UNHCR’s data response team, leading efforts to structure and streamline operational data for coordinated action across agencies.

• Coordinated efforts during the emergency refugee influx in the Northern Aegean, leading the first complete registration masterlist for refugees on Chios, which was crucial for scheduling and operational planning by the Asylum Service and EASO.

• Organized and carried out comprehensive mapping exercises to monitor refugee movements. Maintained continuous data updates in collaboration with local authorities, ensuring real-time visibility of arrivals and departures.

• Created a web GIS platform to monitor boat arrivals, supporting first reception actors. This platform improved real-time decision-making and could be replicated on other islands. Provided timely, actionable insights through daily statistical snapshots and operational reports shared with key stakeholders.

• Delivered capacity-building sessions with the Asylum Service and EASO, offering technical training in data systems. Developed briefing kits and site profiles to assist partner planning and humanitarian efforts.

• Enhanced information systems and partner coordination with innovative tools, accurate reporting, and proactive stakeholder engagement in a rapidly changing operational context.

GeoData Bank SA provided cadastral and geospatial consulting services to major banks during Greece’s national land registry rollout. As founder and CEO, Stelios led the complete delivery of data services related to property rights and land documentation.

• Delivered comprehensive cadastral data management services to banking institutions during the drafting of the National Cadastre. Specialized in legal processing of ownership titles, ensuring compliance with Law 2308/95, including drafting and correcting Declarations and resolving documentation gaps and delays.

• Managed the preparation and submission of appeals to Cadastral Offices, tracked progress, and offered real-time consulting support to legal and property departments throughout procedural reviews.

• Supervised updates to internal bank systems concerning finalized rights registration and supported the integration of GIS tools for asset valuation. Enabled efficient portfolio management through precise geospatial analysis, aiding decision-making on property ownership, asset value, and legal compliance across Greece.

The University of the Aegean is a prominent institution in geospatial and environmental sciences. Stelios contributed as a doctoral researcher in spatial analysis, focusing on environmental modeling and uncertainty quantification.

• Conducted advanced research on uncertainty propagation in the spatiotemporal distribution of environmental variables, aiming to enhance prediction accuracy in geospatial and environmental models. Utilized statistical modeling and data science techniques across Geographic Information Science and Earth and Environmental Sciences fields.

• Contributed to the academic community through three peer-reviewed journal publications and several international conference presentations. Assisted in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, providing support in course delivery and student mentoring.
