I was brought in to help HL integrate their systems to the new Pensions Dashboard via a 3rd party using AWS.

The primary focus was to work on the integration for collecting the data from Origo for clients that could potentially be HL customers, and the integration to send to Origo confirmation of possible HL customers to be classified as customers.

Secondly, help the team that are Java specialists to become proficient in AWS and TS. Providing my experience to help suggest, design & decide solutions, and pair with engineers to get familiar with cloud solutions.

My role consisted of:

Provide ADRs to help drive forward new development. These included:

• How to use sFTP software to move data to and from Origo and AWS. Likewise for data to and from AWS and on-premise networks.
• The DynamoDB configuration and schema design needed for the data HL needed to collect and store.
• Design of the data that is sent to the on-premise users.
• Collecting requirements

Hands on development, code reviews, and working with product managers and engineering seniors to deliver work in an agile manner. My hands on development were:

• sFTP setup
• Snowflake data collection with Firehose, Glue & S3
• Setting up secure data transfer to on-premise servers from AWS
• Addressing the team’s code coverage with unit testing and functional tests.
• Pairing with engineers to familiarise with AWS.
• Work as a mentor with an associate engineer to help his career development.
• Work with the Engineering Manager & senior engineers before planning sessions to break down the work.
• Own the work for connecting to the 3rd party Origo. This involved working with an engineering manager, principal engineer, solutions architect, and the cloud team.
• Provide the requirements for planned work to make sure they’re legible for the engineers to take into refinement.
• Drive and contribute to refinement sessions for the planned work.
• Presenting in catch ups and department presentations on the work delivered.
